You need a Platform

It’s been already 1 1/2 years since Alex and myself attended the first WooCommerce conference (WooConf) in San Francisco. One of my favorite talks was given by Chris Lema about how to build your own platform based on a hub, a central place where your content lives.

You don’t need a website, you need a platform.

In the first 5 minutes of this talk you will learn what good story telling is all about. It’s very dramatic and American, but it’s very convincing and made me suggest Chris as official WooCommerce evangelist.

According to his own website he sees himself as a WordPress evangelist, product strategist, public speaker and daily blogger. He’s also CTO and Chief Strategist at one of the world’s largest WordPress agencies who develops platforms based on WordPress for Walmart, the Los Angeles Times, Sony, Paramount, Yahoo, Nike, BMW, National Geographic and many other big names.

While most agencies in Europe still think that WordPress cannot be used for enterprise-grade digital solutions, he might convince you of the opposite. As already mentioned yesterday on this blog, at the 2014 conference I spoke to developers from another US-based agency who were in the process of migrating California’s biggest surf brand to WooCommerce.

I would really love to attend the second WooConference in Austin in April, but unfortunately it looks like I won’t be able to make it this time. This year’s agenda with the State of the Woo by Joel Bronkowski and WooMattic with WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg alone would be worth travelling to Texas for the first time.
