WooCommerce Live

Life without amazing conferences like WooConf can be hard. WooConf was and hopefully will again sometime in the future be the event for the WooCommerce community. It has taken place three times over the years in San Francisco (2014), Austin (2016), and Seattle (2017) and we were lucky enough to attend two of them.

The next virtual WooCommerce conference, WooSesh, will take place on October 13 and 14, 2021. In the meantime, there are various other virtual WooCommerce meetups in Zürich and many other cities and in many other languages.

WooCommerce Live Season 2

WooCommerce Live is a weekly show by WooCommerce designed to help merchants succeed. For each 30-minute show, they start with highlights from the WooCommerce Community. Then, they jump into the topic for the week and resources, followed by a Q&A session at the end of each episode.

For WooCommerce Live Season 2, they worked through an eight-part series focused on going from idea to first customer and beyond.

In yesterday’s episode of WooCommerce Live we talked about emails in eCommerce and the impact that email can have on your customer experience and store revenue.

WooCommerce community lead Jonathan Wold moderated the session and was joined by WordPress developer Noëlle Steegs and content marketer Laura Nelson from MailPoet which was acquired by WooCommerce end of 2020.

They were sharing guidance on how to think about email, including:

  • The different types of eCommerce emails you can use to grow your business
  • How to approach planning your email campaigns
  • How to build your list

They also covered options for working with emails in WooCommerce.

WooCommerce Live Q&A

During the Q&A session I asked the question if it’s also possible to send the full content of a WordPress post as a newsletter with MailPoet, because when I researched WordPress newsletter plugins last year, I could only find Newsletter Glue, that offers this feature. All other plugins either use their own editor or are not compatible yet with Gutenberg.

After Laura and Jonathan had a hard time understanding my question, probably because it was not asked clearly enough, MailPoet CEO Kim Gjerstad jumped in at the end stating that it’s possible.
