Magento Podcast MageTalk

As Roy Rubin once said: «Germany is where the Magento community started». It was also in Germany where the first Magento podcast magentopodcast.de was started by Rico Neitzel and  Roman Zenner in 2009. It was handed over to Damian Luszczymak and Tobias Vogt in 2011 who produced another 6 episodes after which it ground to a halt in March 2012 after a total of 15 episodes.

Rico and Roman started another podcast in 2011 called ecommercepodcast.de in which they were discussing general e-commerce topics, but naturally also some Magento related stuff. Until October 2012 they produced 7 episodes and I listened to all of them. Great source of inspiration in many ways!

Magento Podcast Listener

So after a (podcast-wise) rather quiet 2013 I was excited to learn about a new Magento podcast produced by two Magento developers from the US, i.e. Kalen Jordan and Phillip Jackson. I’ve been subscribed to Phil’s Magento blog for some time and I know Kalen form Magento Online Hackathon Worldwide earlier this year. He’s the developer behind MageMail, a customer lifecycle email system for Magento. They are both full-blooded Magento developers who love to share their knowledge with others, so it’s no surprise they came up with the idea of a podcast.

I just finished listening to the first episode of MageTalk and can confirm that it’s really fun to listen to. The domain is still showing a blank page, but the show notes are on Phil’s blog. Although they started beginning of September, they already produced three episodes which are available on iTunes and Soundcloud.

  1. MageTalk Episode 1 – The Voltron of Magento
  2. MageTalk Episode 2 – «Jag You Are»
  3. MageTalk Episode 3 – William Crush Wednesday

Although it started as a weekly postcast, they mentioned in the first episode that it might be more or less frequent. If they continue at this pace, they will produce more episodes in 4 months than the German podcasters in 3 years.

Do you know about any other Magento or e-commerce podcasts that you would recommend?
