It looks as if this is going to be the most epic community driven Magento developer event ever or in the words of Magento community manager Mosses Akizian:
This will be a great opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow developer community members and have face time with Magento key developer core team members. With your eCommerce knowledge and Magento skills, we’ll create projects and stomp issues together.
Magento developers Tim Bezhashvyly (Openstream) and Sylvain Rayé (rissip) have been the driving forces behind the first Swiss edition of the Magento Hackathon. Sylvain has already given 7 reasons for NOT coming to the Magento Hackathon in Zürich, but there are definitely a lot more than 7 reasons to attend this unique event in Switzerland’s Silicon Valley.
Although it was first planned similar to previous hackathon events where each participant can suggest Magento related topics of his or her interest, Mosses came up with the idea of sending some of the Magento core developers over to Zürich in order to dedicate the Swiss hackathon to fixing bugs in Magento 1.7.0.2 which will then most probably result in a new release of 1.7.0.3 or even 1.7.1?
Adding Los Angeles as an additional location and connecting the 2 via Google Hangout is yet another community empowered approach of getting even more reach. Go go Magento!
If you want to know first and if you like to fix bugs in a Swiss (quality-driven) environment, make sure to sign up before it’s too late! It’s only 2 weeks to go.
Hoping to see you in Zürich or Los Angeles!
