I’ve been working with WordPress since 2006 and have been attending my first WordCamp in Zürich in 2014. Since then I’ve been a regular WordCamp attendee at Swiss and international WordCamps. WordCamp is a conference that focuses on everything WordPress. WordCamps are informal, community-organized events that are put together by WordPress users like you and me. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.
At WordCamp Lausanne 2018, WordPress Bern meetup organizer Gerd Zimmermann asked me unexpectedly if I might be interested in organizing WordCamp Zürich 2019 together with him. Although I had never thought about it before, I spontaneously answered with yes and so Gerd and I were announced as lead organizers for the next Swiss WordCamp.
Many of our 14 oganization team members had experience from previous WordCamps, which made things for me a lot easier. Also not being the single lead organizer and having someone as reliable and experienced as Gerd as a co-lead was really great.
I’d also like to thank all of the other organizers and volunteers for their help in making this an event that so many attendees seemed to have enjoyed a lot.
The next Swiss WordCamp will take place on March 7 21, 2020 in Geneva with both French and English content.
